Choose Your Thoughts Wisely
I saw a friend today who I haven’t seen in many months, and he is not well. His entire being is suffering from a delusion that he, himself, has fabricated with his choice of beliefs. He believes he is being tormented, and indeed, he is—because he has allowed his perception of himself and the world around him to be influenced by fear, self-judgment, and feelings of worthlessness. What he believes is directly influencing what he is experiencing in his day-to-day life and relationships. He is, quite literally, torturing himself.
I went through a phase of my life for several years near the end of my marriage where I was doing the same thing—I was allowing my fear, self-judgment, and self-loathing to color my perception of myself and everything I experienced in my life. I am a powerful creator, and so I manifested the Valley of the Shadow of Death, and I tormented myself as I wallowed in its shadows. I sought experiences that reinforced my feelings of worthlessness and shame so that I could prove it to myself. Again, and again, and again.
Until I had had enough.
Once I decided I no longer wished to experience this self-torture, I ended the relationships that caused me to feel badly, and I started taking proactive actions to heal myself. I sought spiritual teachers, I joined healing groups, I read every self-help book I could get my hands on, and I followed the breadcrumbs to the shamanic energy medicine and Toltec wisdom (The Four Agreements) that set me free from my own noose.
Choose. Your. Thoughts. Carefully.
Every thought that you consistently think, and every word that comes out of your mouth, influences your experience of this lifetime. Thoughts and words are energetic vibration that pulses out from your being and—Like Attracts Like.
“The mind is everything.
What you think you become.”
If you are in a dark place, or know someone who is, keep visualizing the highest possible good for yourself or your friend in need. See this person living authentically as themselves, enjoying their life and connections, and being integrated within the world in a positive way. Send thoughts (or think thoughts) of absolute certainty that this person will find the way out of the shadows and into the light. Believe for them, until they can believe for themselves. Envision them living their highest good, until they can begin to plant the seeds of intention that lead them to their soul’s destiny.
